Talk for 90 seconds after class. TOMO remembers every roll.

A jiu-jitsu training journal you speak into. TOMO writes the session, reads the pattern you keep missing, and tells you what to drill next. Built from your own training and adapted to your belt.

What you get back

The voice note is just the input.

Most training journals end up as notes you never read again. TOMO reads them for you, every week, and hands back something you can act on.

Weekly debrief

A debrief written from your real sessions.

Instead of "keep working your guard," TOMO cites the sessions you logged and names the pattern: where you keep ending up, where it breaks down, what is improving, and what to work on next. Ask it a follow-up question and it answers from your own history. Belt-aware, week over week.

This week

"Third week running, you've been caught in an armbar coming up to mount. The pattern is your lead arm crossing center as you settle. Worth tightening the re-grip before it sticks."

TOMO weekly debrief for a different week: four sessions, a recurring armbar-from-mount pattern named, and a focus-next recommendation tied to this week's Study picks
Study

600+ technique videos, pointed at your gaps.

Stuck escaping mount? TOMO reads your logs and picks this week's videos to close that specific hole, with a note on why each one made the cut. Every video is hand-verified, plays inside the app, and is filed by position so you can browse when you want to. No dead links, no rabbit holes.

Journal

Every session, searchable, with the audio.

Techniques drilled, rounds, submissions landed and taken, your own words indexed and searchable by technique, instructor or note. Replay the original recording from any session and you are back in that training. Six months of mat time, finally legible.

How it works

Rambling in. Structure out.

Train.

Do your thing on the mats.

Talk for 90 seconds.

In the parking lot, while it is fresh, say what you drilled and how your rolls went. TOMO transcribes it with a vocabulary tuned for jiu-jitsu, so "kimura from north-south" comes out right.

Check it and save.

TOMO pulls out the techniques, rounds, submissions and notes into a structured session. Every field is editable. Typing is always there as a fallback.

A white-belt plateau and a purple-belt plateau are different problems. TOMO reads which one you're in.

Questions

A few things people ask.

What is TOMO?

TOMO is a voice-first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training journal for iPhone. After class you talk for about 90 seconds; TOMO transcribes it with a BJJ-tuned vocabulary and turns it into a structured session with techniques, rounds, submissions and notes. Each week it writes a debrief from your own logged sessions, and its Study tab picks technique videos that target the gaps in your training. TOMO is built by Assembly Labs, LLC.

When will TOMO be on the App Store?

Soon. TOMO has been submitted to Apple and is in private beta on TestFlight while review finishes. Join the beta today and you lock in the Founding Tester deal before launch.

What's the Founding Tester deal?

Free now on TestFlight. Active testers, the people who log sessions and send feedback, get six months of Pro free when TOMO launches on the App Store, then keep a founding rate locked for life at a fraction of the standard subscription.

Does TOMO replace my coach?

No. TOMO is a training journal that pays attention. It remembers what you logged, names the patterns you cannot see from inside your own training, and points you at what to drill. Your coach still knows your game better than any app, and nothing in TOMO replaces mat time. If something hurts, see a clinician.

Does it adapt to me, or is it one-size-fits-all?

It adapts. At sign-up TOMO learns your belt, your age, your goals and how often you train. Then it reads every session you log on top of that. Your weekly debriefs and what it tells you to drill are shaped around all of it. The guidance is yours, built from your own training, not a generic curriculum.

How does the coaching change with my belt?

A white-belt plateau and a brown-belt plateau are different problems, so TOMO treats them differently. White belt: consistency and surviving, building the habit and showing you you're improving even on the nights you get tapped. Blue belt: developing your game and plugging the holes that keep catching you. Purple belt: connecting techniques into systems and sharpening what already works. Brown belt: refinement and depth, the small details that separate good from dangerous. As you progress, what TOMO emphasizes progresses with you.

I'm an older grappler. Is TOMO built for me?

Especially. TOMO factors in your age, so the emphasis leans toward the long game: realistic frequency, recovery, and the patterns that wear practitioners down, most of which show up at Tuesday-night open mat rather than in competition. The goal is still rolling in decades. TOMO helps you read your own training patterns and adjust before they become a problem.

How does TOMO bring value to women on the mat?

By adapting to you specifically, your game, your goals, your belt, instead of a generic curriculum built around bigger, stronger training partners. Your record is private by default (no one at your gym sees it), and TOMO turns the ambiguous feedback of a session into a clear signal you own and can act on. Your progress, measured on your terms.

Do I need an iPhone?

Yes. TOMO runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or later, distributed through Apple TestFlight during the beta. Android isn't supported yet.

Is my training data private?

Yes. Your sessions, recordings, notes and stats are visible only to you. Nobody else at your gym has access, including your training partners and your instructor. Recordings live in a private bucket, and you can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app. The full policy is at traintomo.com/privacy.

Can I type instead of talk?

Yes. Voice is the fast path, and typing is always available as a fallback. Every field TOMO fills in is editable before you save.

How much time does it take after class?

About 90 seconds. You talk through your session naturally and TOMO handles the rest. It is designed for when you're exhausted and just want to get to your car.
